Blue Water

Welcome
Friends

Friendship lifts us with laughter, holds us in tears,

and walks alongside, holding space.

Friends promise empowerment, not enabling,

as they accompany our healing journey.

When we forget our strength, they remind us of our resilience.

When we want to give up, they support us so we may persevere again.

And when our ego interferes, friends humble us.

Like ocean waves,

friends wash away heavy feelings weighing you down

and hydrate your soul, restoring it to peace.

I breathe in love & send out gratitude.

Welcome, friends, new and lifelong.

This is for you.

My Facebook Post Following My 50th Birthday

50 hits different. I thought I would dread it more; and yet, yesterday I woke up feeling incredibly loved and blessed for the people I’ve known in my life, the life I have today, and the excitement for each tomorrow.

I’m grateful for making it to my “halfway point” because some friends and family had the opportunity.

I look forward to many more years with friends and loved ones and those I have yet to meet.

I am thankful for the lessons of the past, and those I have yet to learn.

I continue to forgive and heal the layers of my life experiences and be a better me than I was the day before.

50 hits different… for me—because the youthful belief of invincibility is threatened, I’m “mid-life” and finally following my passion to write, and the realization that love and happiness will carry me through my next 50 years—or as many years as I’m allowed.

I won’t discuss how my mind still thinks I’m 20 and my body still feels and acts like it’s 70. That’s for a day when I’m not expressing my gratitude, love, and blessings for all the birthday wishes! Thank you for the birthday love! Cheers to another 50 years!

50!

Aside from my family, fifty is a gift for which I am most grateful.
